march/april 2014 5 Matthew S. O'Connell is executive vice president and co-founder of Select International Inc. He is the author or co- author of more than 100 articles or book chapters, including the best-selling book Hiring Great People . O'Connell also is an adjunct professor of psychology at San Diego State University. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Akron. He has designed selection and assessment systems for more than 400 organizations worldwide, including GE, Toyota, Verizon Wireless and the United Nations. Monica Ospina is founder and director of the social economic development consul- tancy OTrade. She also is a guest lecturer in corporate social responsibility for the Faculty of Mining Engineering at the University of Toronto and in community relations for Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. She holds an M.A. in diplomatic studies from the University of Westminster, London. The World Bank recognized OTrade's proprietary Local Community Procurement Program as one of the top 15 innovations of the World Bank Procurement Innovation Challenge 2012. Esteban Tristan is safety practice man- ager and a senior consultant at Select International. His main focus is on designing psychometric tests, training systems and other tools that help organizations reduce workplace injuries. He has worked with global mining and energy companies such as BHP Billiton, Orica Mining Services and ExxonMobil, managing large-scale hiring systems for Fortune 2000 companies across various industries. His Ph.D. and M.A. in industrial and organizational psychology are from Wright State University. His B.A. in psychology is from the University of Rhode Island. He previously has written for the International Journal of Selection and Assessment , the Journal of Organizational Psychology and Applied HRM Research . Fariborz Ghadar is the William A. Schreyer Professor of Global Management, Policies and Planning and founding director of the Center for Global Business Studies at the Smeal College of Business at the Pennsylvania State University. He also is a senior advisor and distinguished scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. The origi- nal booklet version of Global Tectonics: What Every Business Needs to Know was published in 2005 with the help of Erik Peterson. Since then, Ghadar has continually updated the 12 trends to reflect the current and future global business environment. Brian H. Kleiner is a professor of man- agement at California State University, Fullerton. He received both an MBA and a Ph.D. in management from UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles). Sunil Lakhani is a finance instructor who teaches courses in financial management, financial modeling and corporate finance at AUT University in Auckland, New Zealand. He holds a double master's degree in accounting and finance and has worked professionally in those two areas. Kathleen Loughran is a research assis- tant and writer for the Center for Global Business Studies at Pennsylvania State University's Smeal College of Business. She researches trends that are actively shaping the future business landscape.
